mercury lower units

O.K. I think I have tracked down my seial number (4753745)and year 1977. I'm now looking for a lower unit, but if I am correct mercury made 3 diffrent lower units. From what I have read on here they are interchangable, but when I go into parts catalogs they seem not to be. I have found a 1981motor with a good lowerunit, but don't want to spend the money if it won't work. Any help would be great. Thanks

Your previous postings indicate you have an Inline Six, if so and the 1981 lower unit you're looking at is also from an Inline Six, it'll bolt up to your '77.

I had a later-style, swept-skeg lower unit on my '71 1350 and it worked great.
