Mercury Mariner serial 4867829- need yr and info

anybody that can help find the year and possibly a "thorough" shop manuel. I would also be curious about the weight of this particular motor as well. Serial 4867829, model 1400 140HP. Thanks for all input and assistance from this sight.

Preston<br />Your motor weighs right at 300 Lbs. Year as follows:<br /><br />1400 (140,0) 4865678 - 1978 6 cyl inline<br /><br />Manual at bottom of this page, although I don't know if you are after a Factory Manual. Dealer would be a good place to get one.

Is this serial number a valid one. I tried to look it up on the site you refered me to and it said that I needed eight digits where I only had seven???<br /><br />Preston

Preston<br />Yes, that is a valid serial #. If you look at the link below, under 1400,140, you will see it listed along with related parts(4865678 THRU 5327662). Sometimes that site does not accept the 7 digit serial number for whatever reason. Most times for it to work, your serial number has to begin with a 0. As for the Factory Manual, I don't know of one online. You may have to order one from a dealer.<br /><br /> web page
