Dual 150 Mercury Mariners (1989)

Power trim on starboard engine does not raise to the same height as the port engine.

Seems like the 2 smaller pistons are moving it up but then I hear a clunking sound (almost like the unit is being caught on something but it does not appear to be)

I can see on port engine that the 2 small pistons raise it up until the point where the center larger piston takes over into more of a "trailering position" i believe.

Just picked the boat up yesterday..... although it did raise up enough to safely trailer the boat i would like to get it up as high as the port engine.

Any ideas?

Re: Mercury Mariner Trim

Just a follow up.... looks like the 2 smaller pistons are extending fully but the larger center piston isnt taking it up the rest of the way.... checked the hydraulic fluid and level appears ok

Re: Mercury Mariner Trim

does it work under power? My first guess would be your pump generates enough pressure to static lift with the two rams but not enough for the single. If that's the case then your engine will sink or drop with throttle. If it's something in the ram or a blocked fluid passage feeding the ram then trim at WOT may still work fine.
