Mercury Oiling question

I have just purchased a 2000 32' pontoon houseboat with a 115 Merc outboard. The oil container is in the engine cover which means I must perform some almost impossible maneuvers to add oil.

My previous pontoon houseboat with a 115 Evinrude had the oil container under an aft seat.

Does anyone know of a remote oil kit for this 2000 115 Merc?

Thanks,
J.W. Re: Mercury Oiling question

Are you sure there is not another tank somewhere you overlooked! Im not absolutly sure about the newer motors, but my 87 has a main tank that holds over two gallons! I think you must be mistaken as that little tank under the cover wouldnt last any time at all!

LubeDude

Hi LubeDude,

The tank in the cover is well over a gallon. There is a cap on top of the motor cover to add oil.

This oil filling system is great for open stern boats but it is very difficult for an overweight elderly guy like me to crawl down there through a small opening on the rear deck of my pontoon houseboat.

J.W.
