Finally bought a different boat. It has a rebuilt Mercury/Mariner 1989 150 hp outboard. The trim gauge did not work so I bought a new one. That one did not work. Followed the wires back to the motor and found out there is no sending unit. Bought a new oem Mercury unit but it did not come with directions. So I need a little help. There are three wires. brown/white which I believe goes to the brown/white that makes its way up to the control and then on to the sending unit terminal on the gauge. The black wire I am guessing is for a ground. Now, there is a purple wire and no open purple wire on the motor. What do I connect the purple wire to?
