Just been looking for parts for my outboard carb gaskets, impeller, probably a whole water pump kit. And fuel pump kit. Is eBay the best source? Can’t seem to find any one dealer that has all the parts.

live in Alberta l, Canada so I’d be nice to get all the parts on one spot for shipping fees.

thanks.

so talk to your local dealer...... have them order the parts you need.

in 2-3 days, you will get a call saying....."eh der, got your parts" or "Hé là, tes pièces sont dedans."

Haha... thanks, ou merci.

not sure why I assumed they could get them. Most boat shops here don’t even work on the old outboards.

thanks

Boat shops may not work on them but some are more than happy to make.money off of parts.

Well contacted them, carb kits they can get, but fuel diaphragm kit they gave me seaway’s contact information. I can find these on eBay but to get them sent up here is about 10$ or more for part then 20-40$ shipping and about a month out. Is this what I should be expecting? When I called dealer they dais carb kit gaskets was 7$ and three days away when I order them. That sounds reasonable. I’d even pay then 30-40 dollars shipping if I could get everything in one place, so I was just wondering if I’m going about it the wrong way. Or are these nearly extinct parts that’s expensive?

Hmm... and gaskets as well I presume? Any specific material or just the regular gasket material from auto shop? And what about the diaphragm? What’s that made out of? Rubber? Specific thickness?

You should be in beautiful country then. Enjoy. I’ll be starting my last set before vacation! Hence why I don’t wanna wait till end of September to October for my part.

I’m not even sure it needs the fuel pump was just thinking why not I it while I’m doing everything else.

IF.......you really want to pursue the repairs & hang on to this motor; start looking for "part donors" motors, you'll save a ton.
Ebay is good just watch out for price gougers compare many sellers. although she pretty old & sometimes you have no choice.

What are these motors worth?

Just curious before I dump a some money into this motor. I’m going to go over it a little bit more tomorrow with a day off and see if I missed some things. And also other one similar 1976 850 is for sale for 1000$ seems as though they just had 1000$ of wok done to it three years ago. Are these motors worth 1k running well or are they a 600$ motor?

I would prefer a 1976 motor due to the ignition parts availability & less parts / less mechanical / less complex
But that is just me

You are in Alberta & I'm in southern Ontario so pricing will be depending on demands locally

A 1976 65 HP good condition & water ready will fetch $600 maybe $1000 (sold to a "sucker") down here.

Thanks for the input.

I do believe prices are a little different here. Not near as many boats.... cause it’s kinda like a desert! I’ve been comparing prices to Manitoba since that’s where I’m from and when you search outboards anywhere with water obviously I get a lot more options. I’ll check mine out a little better tomorrow and decide if I should just take it somewhere for a pro to go through it for 100$ and let me know if it’s mechanically sound.

I will be as hard to find a "pro" as parts in "a desert"
You have to realize that that motor is 50 years old, so if a 20 year old guy started working on them in 1970 is now......

I think the the "pro's" you need are on this site (I'm not a pro)
