Hi guys,

I have a 200 2.5l xri s/n OD239688 that smoked the number 4 cylinder last June. I have since found a 1982 150 Blackmax s/n 6181651. I can buy the complete motor but I would like to just swap the Powerhead if possible. Everything is older on the Blackmax and I don't really want to convert to the old style split housing and external tilt trim pump. What all is required to be able to swap the older 150 Powerhead onto my 2.5 xri EFI's midsection and lower unit?

Thanks for any help guys, wanting to get back on the water soon!

IMO you need to look a little harder for a later motor, the 82 is a 2L and only about 135 hp Yes it will work but you will need to swap adapter plate and tuner. The 82 only has a 16 amp stator so watch electronic draws...

I agree however, I have been looking almost a year now and wanting to get back on the water atleast temporarily until I can find something else. Would I need to buy an adapter plate and tuner and which ones do I need? Or are they going to be on the older motor?

Awesome...so the lower unit won't make any difference between the 200 to 150? And the bolt pattern will be the same between the 2 power heads?
