i have a 1979 17" RichLine with a Mercury 900 , I've been trying to find a prop the same size as the damaged one I pulled off. Which is 13 x 17 , It seems I'm having a bit of trouble finding an aluminum prop in this size . I see ones like the blackmax that are 13 1/2 x 17 but I'm not sure if this will work:confused:. will it? I know that you can change the back numbers for top speed or acceleration but im not as sure about the front numbers. I tried googling that shi* but with no help as I can find no kind of mercury prop that is 13 x 17 .. thanks for helping a new boat owner. This boat was passed on to me from my Father. I've been trying to get it back in the water. I have to go price some pressure treated wood tomorrow. the whole floor was rotted along with the fiberglass split from one end to the other all hidden beneath the carpet . I remember seeing a 2 x 4 rafter about a 1/4 thick. so next is the floor and then on to the prop and impeller replacement. Thanks in Advance for reading , Sincerely Captain Smokey

Re: mercury prop question

Generally diameter is a product of prop design and as long as it will physically fit the space it should work.

Welcome to the forum!!:):)
Does the old one have at least 1/4 inch of clearance?

I have no idea. the boat is about 10 miles away waiting to get the floor redone. what exactly should I look at?

Just measure the gap between the tip of the blade and the bottom of the antiventilation plate. If you have enough clearance then the small increase in diameter will not make much of a difference.
