I just acquired one of these engines. The serial number is B143309, which according to my research is indeed a 1987. If anyone out there has an owners manual, or sales brochure from that year (I'd REALLY like one of those), let me know. I'd like to buy it from you. My understanding of these motors is that they were 2.0 liter, weighed 378 lbs, had a full throttle operating range of 5500-6000 rpm, and had a 2:1 gear ratio. It's the gear ratio that I have a question about. I thought these engines were specifically targeted towards the bass boat market, and had the mid-sized gear case that would be found on a 115 of the same year. Mine has a big gear case. Am I mistaken in my thought about the size of the gear case? Maybe someone swapped it out for a larger, 1.87:1 gear case? Any help would be appreciated. Like I said, I'd REALLY like to acquire a sales brochure from 1987.
