Mercury Rev limiter?

8hp Merc, 2003 model.<br /><br />I understand there is a rev limiter in the spark control unit....<br /><br />Can anyone shed more information on this?<br /><br />I expect my prop to be out of the water a LOT during a race in rough water - I don't need my engine revving down on me.......<br /><br />Are there aftermarket spark control units that will allow me to avoid the rev shut down?<br /><br />Tx,

It doesn't rev down, just prevents it from revving too high. It'll rev down if there is a cooling or lubrication problem, but that's not the same.

OK But I want more revs......... <br /><br />How do I get around that?<br /><br />(This means I may be racing modified instead of Stock however)....
