The serial number on the 20 hp outboard given to me starts in OT instead of OG. 2002 model 1020301ZD. What is the difference? Was this just an error? It is OT on all locations.
Why do you ask, whats wrong with your motor,?
We don't need a serial number to fix your motor, just tell us whats wrong with it so we can help you fix it.
When throttling from high cruise speed to idle, engine dies. Asking about serial number to ensure I get right technical info as well as curious. Mercury finds no info on OT serial number. Appears OG vs OT makes no difference. Suspect reed plates could be the problem, however seems odd as its not that old. (2002 motor)
We ABSOLUTELY need the whole serial #. I don't remember exactly If the G was the end of the chrome block or at the beginning of the mercosil block. Those blocks are different if that is the case.
tha letters are nothing but a production run change (not year to year but a run of that particular "style" if you will, may consist of 1, 2 and/or three years).. in tha V6 they range from "no letter" in '76 all they way to tha "C" in '90.. from "D" from '91 to tha "T" in tha late models.. tha letters aren't consecutive.. they left a few out on tha newer end..........
