Engine Type and Diagram: I have a 1990 90hp Mercury 3 cyl. MOD EDIT - Please stop posting links to competitors.
What happened: I was changing the shift shaft seal (#39) and o-ring (#38), and wanted to check the shift shaft (#35), so I pulled it out. And now when I put it back it, it just seems to spin freely, while before it was very tight. I think the shift cam (#15) may have moved out of position.
Question: Do I have to take off the entire prop shaft to get to it?! Please help. Looking at the manual I see a bunch of specialized tools to get bearings/seals out/off. Can I get around without those if I'm not planning on replacing any bearings/seals?
