I have a 1997 Sea Rayder F16 with a Mercury Sport Jet 120 (twin carbs) that starts and runs (rough) but will not idle. Compression in all cylinders is 110-120. It has a red stator. On initial fire up, it started (with throttle) and runs rough but shuts off at idle. I’m running the engine in the water, not on the hose. Engine stays cool (no hotspots) but something doesn’t sound right? It’s a very rough sound? Not a misfire sound and no popping and it will respond to throttle rev. Fuel in tank has been filtered through Racor and Sea Foam added. I cleaned carbs (off engine) but did not fully disassemble (just bowls and fuel float/stop valve. I swapped the CDMs but am wondering if they are the right (compatible) modules - any suggestions from those experienced with this engine - how do I determine if the CDMs are compatible? I have spark at all plugs (spark tester). Planning to reseat the mixture valves next and try again but still suspecting it’s electrical? Any advice would be appreciated?
