Ok so I have 1988 16 foot open now with 1988 force 125. I overhauled the boat all new electronics switches and all. Now I'm on the last part of trying to find a throttle control that will work on the motor. Is there a universal or anything? I don't have pin connectors it is hard wired to the motor. Im stuck and am lost. Can someone help?

Show us a picture of where your controls would hook up in the engine, electrical cable plug/socket and throttle and shifter interfaces. The Commander 2000 is sold by iboats and fits Mercury. Only variables are how many pins do you need on your engine end of the electrical part of it. Teleflex makes cables that work on that control. I don't know when Mercury took over the Force badge. Knowing that would help.

I have no pin connector the wires hook to side of motor the problem is when I push handle forward it comes back towards nutreul instead of staying put. The knob on back to adjust it doesn't adjust it the adjuster is worn out

If you know color codes, old and new, you can match up functionality at that terminal block shown in your picture.

Mercury control cabling codes are:

Red: 12v input from engine.
Purple: 12v output only when ignition switch is somewhere but OFF
Black: Ground input from engine (battery -)
Yellow wire/Red stripe: 12v for your starting solenoid to energize when key is in Start
Black/Yellow stripe: Engine kill
Yellow/Black stripe: Fuel enrichment/choke...push in on key to squirt fuel into carbs or activate electric choke.
Gray: Tachometer signal to tach gauge
Tan/Lt Blue stripe: Warning OT, or low oil grounds warning horn in wiring harness, activating it

Usually outside connector but part of harness:
Lt. Blue/white stripe: Power Tilt and Trim (PTT) Up command
Lt. Green/white stripe: PTT Down command

Harbor Freight has kits of terminals and splices and such which would be the parts needed to remove a connector from a new harness and installing terminal lugs.....no biggie there....as long as you get the functions lined up properly.

On the mechanical cable part, I'd bet Teleflex specifies what engines use which of their cables. So I'd contact them to answer adaptation to your engine question.

Can you posts link please so I could see it

Go to the top of the page and dig around in the parts, maybe accessories sections. Surely they show you a picture of what they are selling.
