Anyone have any idea if this has been done, I have a lead on a cheap Mercury tilt trim unit (from a newer 115HP) (very clean, looks new) for $150, wondering if it could be made to fit my 85HP johnson with some fabrication...

Anyone heard of this being done?

just about any single ram trim can be made to work on just about any motor. you may need to fabricate a separate mounting plate and tie it in to your transom clamps. three ram system don't adapt nearly as well since they use push rods and strike plates instead of mounting eyes and SS rods. It's easy to get a chunk of round rod. Its hard to get a new swivel bracket.

buy what is made for your motor, to dang many headaches, even if you were a fabricator. you will have more time and $ tied up in a makeshift tilt.
