How hard would it be to remove a 115 Mercury and replace it with a 85 HP Evinrude? Would I have to drill any holes or should it all match up on the boat?

Hi ya' dstuard. I'm thinkin' you'll have to drill some new holes. But replaceing a Merc with a Rude will make the extra work worth while...LOL!!! Just a biased opinion.

Re: Mercury to Evinrude?

What I do is use a good marine caulk like "Life Caulk" and fill in the holes. I put a piece of tape on one side of the hole and squeeze in the caulk to make sure the hole is filled. Let it set up and trim if required...you can paint over life caulk to.

unless the wholes were drilled wrong in the begining then they should match up. they are usually a universal fit through all outboards. just likethe sterring cables all match up on the threads but im not 100% sure jst about 95 lol

The mounting holes have been standard between manufacturer models for many years. If you have one of the early merc inline 6 engines, (from the 70's) I believe they preceded the switch to standard bolt holes.
