Mercury Wiring Diagram Help

I have a 1985 35HP Mercury on a Pontoon boat. It has eight wires that come from the ingnition switch and go to a plug that mounts on the engine:confused, can anyone help identify what they do. I'm in process of putting a Evinrude on and want to make sure I get the wires in the right place.

are you trying to use a merc control on an evinrude. will not work.

Sorry for the confusion. Lets try this again.

I have all of the Evinrude controls and here is what I 'm trying to do.


I'm tring to use the wires from the key switch on the pontoon boat and connect it to my Evinrude (the key switches are identical). I have the solinoid box for the evinrude, that goes between the key and the Evinrude but I would like to use the existing key switch from the potoon that hooked to the Mercury, and if I can find out what the wires do I can hook them up to the soilenoid box or terminate as necessary. I wolud like to hook them up to the evinrude so lights etc.. to keep working without re-wiring.

Any help is appreciated.
