As long as you didn't touch the short rod that runs from the throttle link to the stator your timing is fine. Is this a tiller or remote model?

It is a tiller with electric start , recently purchased not running , found one bad coil replaced it , it runs great now if you ease into till about half throttle and then it starts to miss ,or if you go full throttle it misses , ... I have rebuild the carb and replaced plugs, wires, both coils, switch box . Compression is 130 and 138 . Any help would be appreciated

Disconnect the kill switch from the switchbox and see if.it.runs better. Those motors are good for twisting the kill switch wires in the tiller. That will cause it to miss.

I have a 1986 25 XD. Mine was acting similar to yours. Here is something easy to try. With the cover off look under the flywheel on the left, port, side. Slowly rotate the flywheel and you can see the magnets on the inside where they pass the pickup coil toward the left front. There are two magnets and they should be on opposite sides of the flywheel from each other. They are epoxied on and it’s common for them to come loose. One of mine was loose. I broke the second magnet removing the flywheel. I am ordering a replacement flywheel so won’t need the extra loose magnet. If you end up needing one I could sell you mine. I couldn’t find them anywhere for Mercury. If you end up pulling the flywheel a harmonic balancer puller from O’reilly or an auto parts store works and they end up being free to rent. The bolts in the puller kit won’t work but the two bolt holes on the flywheel take 3/8” -16 thread bolts 2.5 inches long. An impact driver and no hammering on the flywheel. I hit mine what I thought was lightly with a ball peen hammer and cracked the other magnet. It could have already been broken too though. Hope this isn’t too much info but a magnet has moved it will screw the timing and it’s easy to check for without removing anything but the engine cover.

Those threaded holes are metric not standard. Do not use the impact driver on the flywheel!! It is not common for them to come off!!!! You should never hit a flywheel with a hammer.

Checked the kill switch that was not the problem unfortunately, I also have looked at the magnets no cracks and they aren't loose ....I'm leaning towards be the stator at this point
