I'm changing the drive oil on my 1984 MR-1 drive before making a 600-mile trip (40-45 hours engine run time) on the Tennessee River. The plug magnet has some metal shavings that seem to be slightly more than I'm used to seeing. This metal has been collected in 17 hours.

new sterndrive or you've only run this one for 17 hrs since last change? If new leg there will be more than norm. Even if old doesn't look like more than I've seen on mine.

Where you running? I'm wanting to get around to making the run from Guntersville to Knoxville and back.

It's the original drive and it's an MR-1. Thanks for looking. I felt that the shavings were within reason, but it was a little more than I remember.

Dam..... (pun intended) that is a nice run. If you overnight in Guntersville let me know (pm me) I've got friends and we used to stay at Guntersville Marina for several years if you need anything I can hook you up with people. And one in the Chatt area.
