Guys,
I just acquired a bunch of old MFG sales catalogs! Also got some 60's Evinrude and Johnson stuff. PM me for the particulars.

Thanks
Ed

Hi Pete,
Yep I got a photo copy of the 61 sales catalog. PM me with your address and I'll send it to you!

Re: MFG literature

Good morning Ed,

I am new here and this is my first post but I just stumbled upon this thread.

I purchased an MFG Car Top Fisherman with a 6 hp Evinrude this past weekend. There are so many layers of paint on the boat I have no idea if it's white or green. On another website I looked at scanned adds from the 50's-80's an it appears that my boat is pre-1969 because it does not have the live well in the center seat.

Do you have any literature on this boat?

Thanks, David

Re: MFG literature

Hi David,
Welcome aboard! Lots of good people here! We MFG owners are a special lot! My information shows the 12' version car top fisherman was introduced in 1964. Later, they offered a 14'er. In 1965 the 14'er was renamed as the Challenger.
I have most of the 60's MFG catalogs, and none of them show a live well. So you are probably right. The catalogs show all molded-in seats.
MFG offered the Car top Fisherman in two colors. White and Hunter Green. In 1966 the inside got painted two tone beige. Hope that helps

Re: MFG literature

Thanks for the reply.

I have some work ahead of me; I bought the boat with title and TX registration but the HIN on the title indicates a boat built by Starcraft and the original HIN has either been removed or covered with paint.

It is definitely a MFG Car Top Fisherman as the manufactures label is still on the side of the boat.

TP&W indicated that this is not a serious problem because it is currently registered and titled and the rep noted that old boats commonly have incorrect information. I don't know if it will work as planned but I will try to have the title corrected to MFG and request a knew HIN that is correct for the boat.

I hope the local TP&W works with me, it would be a shame to have to keep the boat on the private lake behind my house.

I will post pictures pretty soon.

David,
Good luck, it will take some effort on your part to work your way through the system. Here in Massachusetts, it's a real chore. We have "Environmental Police" that often have to come to your house and inspect the boat. Then you wait and wait and wait some more...It's a hassle.... Hope things are easier for you!

Hi Ed,

You wouldn't happen to have the '68 brochure would you? Possibly with the Westfield Regal? Bob
