I am new here and need some help,

i have purchased an MFG piper 1500 1980 model,120pk mercruiser,

engine runs well problem i have is this

trim gauge neddle has stopped working all of a suddern light in gauge works once i tinkered with wire behind the dashboard and suggestions ?
e bay

also i have attached a couple of photos from the engine bay where i have a loose brown and white wire could this be the cause of the needle not working ,?

also when taking the boat out the inside back seat (six seater)has a wet floor,
i pulled the child seat out and looked at the air intake ducting and see a tear ,

Could this be where the water is coming from ? only om this side

Your pictures did not post, and you are covering a whole bunch of stuff that is unrelated. There are a lot of helpful people here but maybe more detail and one thing at a time might get you some responses.

Hi Hammond1979 !!
Welcome aboard ! It's nice to see a newer MFG here , most of us here are owners of '60s and '70s MFG and outboards . You are more than welcome here , so keep asking questions , as Mark said using the most related forum will gain the quickest answers , I.e. the Mercruiser forum to check where the wire goes , and the electrical/electronics forum for the tach .again welcome and see if you can get those pictures of your pride n' joy up for us ! peter

Hi hammond1979'

Typically Mercury uses white wire for Positive (+12V.) Brown for signal and Black for negitive (-12v.) If the wires are loose the gauge will not work.
Hope that helps.. and welcome to the MFG Site! :D
