Re: Miata MX5 1991

I have a friend who has one and says it is a lot of fun to drive and that it has been reliable. I'd bet there's a Miata club you could check with for more details.

http://forum.miata.net/vb/ The best Miata resource out there (IMHO). They are a forum and also have a faq section, used buyers checklist, common problem list, how to's, ect., ect...

I don't know much about earlier models but my 99 has been a great car!!! Fun to drive, reliable, cheep maintenance items.

The gas mileage isn't what you would expect from a compact car, but fun cheep transportation non-the less.

There is a huge aftermarket for them (from suspension, turbo's, exterior items, ect).

EH go for the V12

I've seen one that a guy put in a Jaguar v12....Beautiful swap!!!!!!

I took the easy (cheep) way out and installed a small supercharger on mine (7 hr bolt on)...Huge improvement...A good running Camaro will still get the best of it but they are surprised. :D

A couple cons to keep in mind.

It is a SMALL car. 1 person it is great-2 people ok. Packing for a week vacation is interesting at best.

Convertibles with the top up do have blind spots.
security is limited (don't put in an expensive stereo).
Very small trunk.

Well I droveit and walked away from it. The seat back would not recline to a comfort level and there was no where enough leg room. I am 6'1" and 190 lbs. The Miata was made for a much smaller person. Outside of comfort it was a fun short drive.
