The weather has been so crazy this year that it looks like Michigan's boating season is going to start earlier than normal. I'm pretty excited and ordered some maintenance parts today (shameless iboat plug-in). You guys from the south probably won't understand, but if you're from somewhere that freezes, you'll understand how I'm feeling!

Even around here we have lakes that should go out today, or at the very least this week. I don't think we've ever had open water in March... And to think, a couple of weeks ago I was snowmobiling.... Bring it on!

I keep my boat at a marina on Lake St. Clair, they should be sending out the email soon to schedule the drop in. Maybe I should have paid for expedited shipping on those parts, lol!

I surely understand what the boating season excitement is .......we are above that warm jetstream and there is still 2 ft of ice in the pond by my house where i fish for brook trout in the summer......i could go ice-fishing right now but just dont seem to enjoy that so much as watching a brookie breach the surface chasing my white wulf or woolie bugger dry flies ! Right now it`s about 20deg F.......could go snowmobiling but I`m sick of that......want to get the boat out !

Yeah, we might giggle at y'all when it's "too frozen for boatin'," but you guys can get yours back when you hear of 1/2" snowfall in our neck of the woods. It's like the 4th rider of the apocalypse here in Nashville.:D

Sorry you had to put the snowmobiles up early though. Those mugs are fun.

I was stationed at Ft. Campbell for a few years, I couldn't believe how crazy it got when the weather man would forecast snow. The shelves would be emptied, and the people would act like the world was ending. lol!

Ironic ... my family was a Selfridge family (I grew up in Detroit) and my Grandfather commanded Phelps Collins in the 60's. I get up to Campbell a little bit (I'm not it but I do stuff with Civil Air Patrol). Thanks for serving.

Yeah, snow down here is pretty funny.

I started on the water pump impeller's last weekend, but have much more to do. It sure can be a pain to perform maintenance in the marina, and not in a garage environment. I have to research the job totally before I go to the marina to make sure I bring all the correct tools, etc. What a pain!

We'll be launching about a week later than our April 1 earliest launch this year only because of a business trip that I've been on. Bring on the 2012 Lake Michigan Boating Season!

the only time I use the word frozen is when I refer to drinks in a blender.
