Question on replacement prop on yamaha 2003 90hp.<br />Just replaced my stock prop 13 1/4x17k to a michigan match prop 13 1/2 x 15 needed to increase my rpm by 500 more replacement prop seems a little snug compare to stock prop when trying to free spin the prop in netural.I called a local prop shop and customer service at michigan and both stated that the bushing inside the housing can cause this not to free spin as the old prop. When setting the nut by hand until tight prop spins o.k. but when some pressure is applyied and cotter pin is installed the prop seems to have a slight drag on it but it will turn.

Re: michigan match prop

Pull the prop off and look at the paint to see where it is rubbing. I've seen this several times on MWC props. see if it's touching the machined surface that sets slightly inside the gearcase housing or is it rubbing the face of the machined surface, about 3/8" back.
