How did he get all this done without any paper work.

Don't know.
Did he forge a bill of sale?
Pay off the clerk?

What state was the boat last registered in?

Maybe its best that you don't ask.

The trailer stays with the boat?

Makes no sense, as trailers often wear out, or are sold if the boat is junked.

Depending on the size of the boat, I'm assuming small boat, 21' or less. The boat is registered, 3 years. It can be titled but it doesn't have to be, waste of $15. IMO. Larger boats get titled.

All trailers in Michigan have to be plated, a onetime expense of $75.00, if I remember correctly.

Boats don't have to stay with the trailer.

Family related transactions in Michigan just sail through the system. The can often look up the old info and use it to transfer registrations and titles.

I have never had a problem with the SOS here in Michigan. I can walk in and get new tags for my mom's car with a copy of the old registration.

He may have a gift of God. Regardless, he could get a job here helping out all the folks with non-existent or insufficient paperwork and get them titled and registered. . .
