I noticed a replacement SS prop from Michigan Wheel costs significantly less than a Mercury prop. I was just wondering if the Michigan Wheel props were any good, and why they're so much cheaper than Mercury's. I found a 4 blade stainless steel prop from Michigan Wheel for $247, where A comparable prop from Mercury was $645.

Re: Michigan Wheel VS Mercury?

Michigan Wheel props are great quality at a great price. Merc has some new stainless alloy formula that allows for a thinner and lighter prop but don't know how much more performance you will get out of that for the cost difference. The hub from Michigan Wheel is also pretty inexpensive. Their aluminum props are really cheap too, I have several that I got for $67 each and keep them for lakes with rocky bottoms and to have a variety of pitches for hole shot versus top end. I have been able to call Michigan Wheel and talk to an engineer and would suggest that before purchasing as they can speak to expected performance with your specific application.
