Does anyone out there have microsoft words from 1997 or up at home? If you do, could you email me at malibu4u@axion.net with Microsoft Words in the subject so I know you are replying to my topic from iboats. I would like to get a copy for my own use and would like to make some arrangements with anyone that has it. Will be going out in about 10 minutes but will get back to you as soon as I get back in. Tks.

Sorry, I don't have it. But if you're looking for a general purpose word processor, you might want to consider OpenOffice. It's word processor is a lot like Word, and best of all it's free (GPLed). It and the packages with it (spreadsheet, 'powerpoint', etc) are fully compatible with Microsoft files.

The download is around 86MB, so forgeddaboutit if you're connected via a modem. You may want to consider taking the 1.9 beta for now, as 2.0 seems to be very close to being done. That means the current beta version is almost cleaned up enough for mass ditribution.

http://www.openoffice.org/

Malibu,

Go to www.Pricewatch.com and search for:

MS Word OEM

You can get a plain package 'OEM' copy of Word for about $21.

Here's a link to one of the sites that have it:

http://www.9software.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=WORD2K&Click=5673

I buy most of my software this way. An OEM version is simply a plain-packaged copy without the fancy box (and typically no support, but who gets that anyway?)

I have MS word 2000, but loaning it out would of course violate some law or other... :(

Get a copy from Pricewatch... It's cheap.

Also keep an eye on www.Newegg.com (my OTHER candy store) :)

H.

Ahh yes... Pricewatch is my biggest computer candy store.
I buy 99% of my computer parts from there.

Always check there for the 'OEM' stuff... Anti-virus stuff, applications, etc... You'll be surprized how much cheaper it is.

I even got a killer deal on my last CPU from Pricewatch... The advertising store mis-priced a XP3400 chip... They had to honor it, so I got it for almost half price !

I went back the next day to get another one, but they fixed the error... :)

H.
