Changing my cast-iron fly wheel out for another with better teeth. What a horrible design this was. I had a mechanic tell me that I could change to the earlier style aluminum with the press on ring gear, as long as I change over the stator (??)

Regardless, there’s a bit of rust on the inside of this fly wheel. I’ve removed what I could with Scotch-Brite. Will the remaining rust cause any issues with running? See photo attached

Before I throw out the old one, does anybody repair these? Cast iron is very brittle and I wouldn’t trust welding it up myself up but I’m wondering if anyone does rebuild these as they’re obsolete.

Don't worry about the rust.----Yes I have a few of these I got on exchange.----Waiting for time and more of them to come up with the repair method.----I have a plan on how to do it.
