how do I fine tune the carb on a mid 70's evinrude 25 hp. I am selling it and I just want to make sure it is running good. There is a lean/rich knob, but is that the only adjustment on this model. Are there any other screws to adjust? If the rich/lean knob is the only adjustment what is the rule of thumb on gettin it in the right position? Just till it sounds good? If I remember right, it isn't idling quite right, so I was wanting to adjust it so it gets more fuel at idle. It almost dies when shifting because in order to shift I have to idle it down to the point where it wants to die. can this be solved with the lean/rich knob?

Possibly. With it warmed up and idleing in gear on a boat in the water, slowly turn the knob to the right till it starts to falter or sneeze then turn it back to the left till it idles smooth. Turn it in small increments and give the motor time to respond. Turning it too far to the left will make it run rough again. Shift to neutral. If it sneezes, give it a little more tweak to the left. Then forget it is there.
