mid 80's Black Max 150 Compression issue...

Im looking at a boat that is having engine problems. The owner says 5 of the 6 cylinders have 100-110psi and the 6th one only has 50psi. It is the bottom left cylinder. What are the chances that this is just needing a head gasket? Or am I just looking at a full rebuild? Thanks!

Probable rebuild.Pull the plug and use a piece of coat hanger and feel for ridges and cuts in the cylinder wall,look in using a light. You can almost bet it ain't the head gasket.Jerry

That's the last one to get gas when the fuel system is weak. Probably a burned piston.
