I'm gonna go look at a mid-80's johnson 60 hp twin. The dealer says that it runs really well (they all say that) and that it has power trim...but it's the old style. What does he mean by that? Is that bad?

any other opinions on these motors?

BTW, I'm a total noob at this.

But if I ask to see a compression test, what kind of numbers should I be looking for? I know that there should only be about a 10% difference between the cylinders, but overall, what kind of average should be there?

I don't know about old style, is it OEM or a after market set up. I would think the compression should be above 125, just a guess.

some had trim n tilt, some just had tilt. ask him to explain what he means, see if he knows what he is talking about.

well...none of this matters anyway because the trim motor wouldn't fit on my boat.....
