Hi All,

I am looking for some feedback on the mid 90's Mariner 135 OB. I have had a 1999 Mercury 115, not a bad motor, however I did not have it long enough to know its reliablity. My only beef with the 115 was the 2/4 Cylnder switchover at about 1800 rpms, I never had a problem with it, however I was not real keen on the concept. I believe this is the Mercury 135, a 6 cylnder but not a Tower of Power. Also, I am not sure what the Black Max difference is.

What do you think of the motor design, power and reliability.

I am knowledgeable on outboard maintenance, assume this one has always been maintained, I am really looking for the overall opinion of the motor. I have also owned a Rude V4, that motor was great.

Thanks

MS

MS, That V6 is a much better motor than the inline 2+2, IMHO.

That V6 design has been around since the late 70s, and is still being made today. The only drawbacks of the V6 are more eweigth and more fuel. You gety much better power.
