I think your talking about the nut on the swivel pin, if that's the case usually the bottom yoke is worn out. To change if requires removing the shift shaft and I know a couple that were repaired by a good clean up and thickened epoxy in the spines on the nut. Certainly not the best repair but I hear it worked.
