Might have a job

As some of you know I got laid off at thanksgiving.
Got a phone call from a company that does bulb and fixture replacements for Home Depot, Lowes, Toys R Us, Target etc.
They have a big contract coming up for target stores in California.
He is still waiting on all the details and should know more by the end of the month.
He is talking about a supervisor position and my friend that works for this company says the supervisors make about 70,000 plus bonuses and I know the bonusus vary between 1500 and 8000.
I would have to spend about 7 months away from family.....probably wouldn't make it home til thanksgiving, but we would be able to pay all the bills and still have lots of extra.
Like I told the wife...yea it would suck for a while but not all jobs would be this far away and when working in the midwest I would be home on the weekends and some would be 3 day weekends.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I spend a fair amount of time away from home in various countries. I am currently in Alabama, have been here for 2 weeks and should be back home midweek next week if all goes to plan.

Saw a company here redoing all the Home Depots sign lights with GE LED lights on a cord. Company out of Kalamazoo Mi, cant remember the name.
I was amazed and astonished its cheaper to drive 5 trucks and 10 guys a couple hundred miles versus just hiring some local boys to do it.
Our city hall and memorial halls are being tuckpointed & exterior renovations by a construction company out of Livonia.

Good luck with the job I would hate to be in the job market right now being a factory worker in a dying factory land.

I have had jobs where i spent months away from home and yes,it can really be tough.All of the hotels start looking the same and you can forget where you are.
But! For that pay rate i would sure go for it at least for a year or two..

My son talked to our friend that works for this company and he said from what he hears the job is mine.
So looks like I may be a working man in the next 4 to 6 weeks

Ok, if You come west let me know. I am southern california (actualy high desert near Barstow). The last company I worked for did all the underground for the general that built the lowes in our area. If there are any postitions available let me know. At the moment I have built a mechanics truck and am doinig heavy equipment repair. but for there to be heavy equipment to repair, there has to be contractors with job's to be working the iron. I'll try and scab a picture of the truck on with this post.

I received my second phone call from them today.
They are currently checking inventory and figuring out the scheduling, I can PM you the fax number if you are interested in sending them a resume.
I will be spending a week in either Chicago or Detroit training before I ship out to California.

Got the job. Leave Sunday Feb 7th for a weeks training in Minneapolis, then I will be home for 2 weeks, and then another week of training at a yet to be determined location. Then I will be home for a week before leaving for California.
I will be a project manager, I meet with the owner the first part of the week to go over all the details. I am pumped............

Congrats!!! thats awesome news.....Im hoping things turn around this year for alot of folks in this country, and it looks like it has for you already!
