Can something other than water turn the oil milky? I have a Merc 140 that I cant get started (actually started tonight but wont idle) and I'm wondering if the unburned fuel would turn the oil milky? The local mechaninc says no, it would have to be water. I just changed the oil but tried for a few days to get started with no luck. When started, the oil pressure is between 40 and 50 psi (varied with engine speed). I'm thinking of draining the crankcase and trying again, but the local mechaninc thinks I'm wasting my time...

Gas will thin the oil, but won't make it milky. Things like Water, antifreeze, who knows maybe beer will make it milky, but not sure I want to waste any to find out. ;) :p :D
