envinrude 30 1995, I checked my bill and it states that a pressure test was done for 2.5 hrs and a vacuum test for 3.5 hrs with no leaks. I also changed the orings on the fill and vent screw this spring. The gear case oil still comes out milky.
Another problem: I ran the motor for about 10 mins in a lake and it just stopped. It would not turn over. The lower unit and the engine was hot to touch. I did not check to see is water was being discharged before taking out. Could this be the water pump or has the engine siezed?
Thanks in advance for your help.

ggreen....you can test the lower unit yourself and it's easy. Just rig a bicycle pump to either the drain or vent plug hole.....(drain the lower unit first..:)), dump the lower unit in a garbage can full of water and pump it up. Bout 10 to 15 pounds of air is all ya' need. Look for bubbles coming from the lower unit.

On the overheat....either ya' need a new impeller, t-stat or both. If neither has been replaced for a while, replace both. If you can turn the flywheel by hand, you should be OK. Run a compression check just to be sure.

Keep us posted....thanks.

When a motor stops on its own and will not turn over, thats a siezed motor. It may free up as it cools off.

If the motor and the lower unit were too hot to touch, yes I'd say its from a lack of water.

As OBJ suggests, lets run a compression test. I would pull the head for a visual. The head gasket needs replacing anyway.

Good luck!

This thread is almost 5 years old. I suggest you start your own thread with the title explaining what you want. You should get a much better response that way.
