Mineral Scale On Mercruiser Drive

Hey Everybody,

I just picked up my new to me new boat, a 1997, 1950 Lund Tyee Magnum Grand Sport. Definitely a one in a million find as it's nearly perfect in every way.
It is and always has been a freshwater boat. That said the Merc drive has some white mineral scale on it, doesn't appear to be too bad. What is a good cleaner that will take that scale off and not harm the original finish of the drive?

I use CLR. Works great. Vinegar will work, too, but it takes longer.

Thanks! I was thinking CLR but wasn't sure how it would treat the paint. Totally gapped the vinegar.
