minimum hp for 1994 26' rendevous

hey guys,We don't need speed.Just light cruising.Have a 150hp force that will push it 28mph.That engine is history.Too many problems.I am going to buy new engine.Am thinking about dropping to 115hp four stroke.Any ideas or reccomendations.Thanks Roy

You could do light cruising with a 40hp but that would be out of the question. If your going with a new motor take the advice of the dealer that will be installing it. Just a guess but 115hp sounds underpowered to me. And trust me I'm not a go fast person.

Often the motor size (displacement) will affect torque, and you need that on a large hull. So I'd look around for a low HP V6 because it will have more torque to get a large boat going. Or some other motor but a lower HP version of the same block. I don't know the 4 strokes that well, but for example the 135-150hp V6 will work well on a larger boat.
