Minn Koda Endura Troller Problems

My friend gave me his old Minn Koda trolling motor. He bought a new one and mounted it on his flatbottom (this is how he used the one I got). The flatbottom had gone off in a flood with the motor still attached. When he finally got the boat back, the motor did not work. I noticed right off the bat that the battery connections were in terrible condition, so I replaced them. The motor still will not work. It is not responding to the battery that I hooked up to it (and the battery had a full charge). What should I do??

Thanks

Are you sure the battery is good? Putting it on a charger for any length of time does not mean it's good. Bad batteries will not accept a charge. Connect it momentarily to the battery in your car or truck. If it still doesn't work, start at the wires and work your way into the motor. If it was in a flood, the head was probably under water (salt water at that) and the connections are probably toast.

I used the same battery that cranks the Volvo on my Bayliner (i know that the battery is good). I popped the hood on the motor and all the connections looked brand new (I could tell that there was not any water in it). I will update you once I look at all the wiring more closely.

Thanks
