I've been looking for a used trolling motor for a little while now and I've got a question for you all. I've never seen any motor listed with autopilot AND copilot. I've seen just autopilot and just copilot.

My question is, does copilot come with autopilot built in? If I buy a copilot motor will I get the function of autopilot or do I have to buy a autopilot and copilot motor to get both?

You have to have both if you want those features but may be hard to find as they are somewhat obsolete since they came out with the i-Pilot which gives you both those features plus a lot more.

That's what I figured. I am looking for a used one. I'd love an Ipilot but my budget is only about 350 so that equals used.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Minn Kota Copilot

I have a 55 powerdrive autolpilot that I just bought a copilot cover and remote for on ebay, I expect the copilot to replace the foot pedal and the autopilot to work as it always did.

The coplilot is an aftermarket option for any powerdrive with or without autopilot for around $140.

I think $350 will go a long ways toward getting you a nice newer 55lb. (12volt) or 65lb. (24volt) autolpilot or a regular powerdrive without AP that you could add the copilot to.

I've fished in lots of boats with AP and copilot, I think if I had to pick one I'd take the copilot, and pass on the AP. I really only use it when I'm putting out lines and don't have a helper to keep the boat pointed the right way. Some people say the constant ZZIT...ZZIT...ZZIT correction of the AP is noisy enough to scare fish.
