The switch on side of foot control for Edge 40 bow mounted keeps jumping from intermittent position to off position. This switch was changed and the problems continue to exist.

Any suggestion on what the problem may be and how it can be resolved will be appreciated

Re: Minn Kota Edge 40 power switch problem

I did a little searching and only thing I found on this prolem was your post on the Pensacola forum.

I guess you could try another replacement switch on the off chance the new one was also bad.

Have you tried calling or emailing minnkota on this? They're usually pretty responsive. If you go to their website under Contact Us they have a phone number and email form.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: Minn Kota Edge 40 power switch problem

Chances are the switch (both the old one and the new one) are not bad since both exhibit the same problem. Look very carefully at the mounting. If any of the surrounding plastic is rubbing on the switch it can act as a spring and pop the switch from one position to another. Since it only happens in one direction, a file or vey sharp knife can carve away enough plastic to avoid the interference. Also, are you absolutely certain you are not inadvertently hitting the switch with your foot as you operate the pedal.

Thanks guys for your responses. I did contact Minn Kota and got a non-responsive response. Their idea of addressing the problem was refer me to a dealer. Very disappointing tech support of Minn Kota. When I buy a new motor it will not be a Minn Kota.

Wil be more aware to make sure my other foot is not accidently bumping the switch.
