MINN KOTA PD 65 Low Unit Movement

I have a Minn Kota PD 65, and I noitced that the motor was making a great deal of noise. I took the motor a part and replace bushing and 2 other bushing around the prop spindle. I also nticed after putting the unit back together, I can grab the prop and I have about a quater of an inch movement in the motor. I also noticed that I was having problems with the motor starting properly. If I push the prop inward the motor would move the quater of inch and the motor will work good. But if I back off the the prop the quater of an inch the motor would hum. What am I missing here, I tighten the motor as tight as i can, but I still have the movement.

You probably lost a thrust washer or the unit simply was not assembled correctly.

Sounds like the armature is moving and affecting brush contact
