just got a new boat that came with this trolling motor. i like the motor, but i hate the foot pedal. to steer it, you have to hit the pedal side to side instead of a heel-toe motion. so you steer it, then move your foot over to hit the go button. steer, go, steer, go. so the motor is constantly going on and off. anyone know if you can swap out the pedals on these? i like the heel-toe type pedals much better. i emailed minn kota but they haven't written back.

I don't think you can swap them out, but I hated mine when I first got it, now its OK, it just took a while for me to get used to it. Of course you could swap over to the co-pilot and control the motor with your thumb. I didn't think I was going to like that either, but it turned out that I do. :)

You don't need to move your foot to hit the go pedal. Heel makes it go. Rock your foot right to turn right. Rock it left to go left. You can add the Co-Pilot feature which uses either a wireless foot pedal or the key fob style control. No feet involved with that. Just fingers. If you are using the MOM/CONT (momentary/continuous) switch as the go button you are using it wrong. Set the speed you want, set the switch to CONT and steer to your hearts content. If you want start/stop operation, the hell part of the pedal does that.

i'm using momentary. i tried a few different foot positions on the pedal, none of which worked very well. maybe i'll get used to it over time but right now i miss my old motor guide.

I leave mine on continuous and just adjust the speed and steering.
