Hi, I'm getting a trolling motor for a new 17 ft fishing boat. Any feedback on a Minn Kota Autopilot 65 AP or Minn Kota's in general? Please advise, Thanks!

I've been runnig the same Minnkota for over 10 years and never had a problem. It gets quite a bit of use during the season, not only from me but my son too and younguns can be pretty rough on the equipment.

Howdy, Lunker.

I have MK motors on both of my 17' Whalers. Both 55 lb., One is a power drive and the other is AP. Satisfied with both.

Really like the AP, but wish you could turn it on and off at the controller rather than having to go forward to the motor head.

Going to put a Genesis AP on one of them this year.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

minnis are the best handsdown .. the auto pilot really works but you must have your ob down in the water somewhat for to it acts as a rudder

Minn Kotas are tough.

I even use Minn Kota freshwater units in saltwater. I get 10+ years out of them, using them almost weekly. The motor housings corrode, but still keep on ticking.

I now seal around all openings on the control unit with RTV, and have not had one fail since.
