Greeting all! I have an older 70 Pound thrust bow mounted trolling motor. It has served me very well. About 7 years ago The Armature developed a bad spot and I changed it out. Apparently, I messed up the seals and it has started to operate erratically. I just tried it and now It won't spin at all. I tested the leads and had power to the foot pedal. I bypassed the pedal and the motor still would not operate. Today I disassembled the lower unit and found the bearing seized up. I do have ~ 24 volts to the brushes. I contacted Northland Marine to look into replacement parts. I decided to go with a new lower unit instead of rebuilding this one again. I asked if an 80 pound thrust lower is compatible and they advised it was. Any input if this is a bad choice?
