Minn Kota vs Motorguide

I took my 16' Bass Tracker Pro dee V out for the first time last Sunday. I have a 40lb thrust Minn Kota bow mount trolling motor on the boat. It was windy and I struggled controling the boat. The guy I took fishing with me said this trolling motot was too small for my boat as it took forever to get to our fishing spot.
I would like opinions on which brand you guys prefer and why you prefer them

I am leaning on getting a Motorguide 55lb thrust bow mount. Do the Motorguide and Minn Kota use the same mounting holes?

None that I know of. Your experienced friend that was with you, did he think 55lbs would be enough, or should you consider a 24V system? Otherwise, the same model but with 55lbs should get you the same mounting holes, but MK tech support will be able to answer for sure. If this was a new boat, maybe you will get some sort of credit from the 40lb thrust motor.

As far as Motorquide VS Minnkota, its a Ford VS Chevy discussion. You will find people who love them and others that hate them.
