I found my speedometer pick up was replaced in the past, and they remounted it in new holes. The old ones are still there. While checking the hull for leaks today, I found it leaking. What should I use to seal them up? Should I use Marine Tex or another type of sealant?

You may need to check the wood, and drill out some rotten wood first.

Marine Tex did the trick. I repaired all the holes then remounted the pick up. I used sealant on the screws, and it was bone dry during todays leak check.

I checked the holes last night and found some moisture in the transom, but no rot. I put a heat light on it overnight. Seemed dry this morning.

Is it me, or is Marine Tex just JB Weld in a different package?
