I've had people wanting to buy a solenoid, assitanoyd, acsilliloyd, and sittaloid.
They've also wanted parts for the carberator, carbatrator, and carbonator.
I once had a man ask me if I had parts for an indoor-outdoor Merchury Cruiser.
They've also wanted a new prop hub, prop bushing, grommet, as well as needed a rehubba job and they've "blowed the blade bushing", and my personal favorite "spunt the wing rubber." Where that came from I couldn't even start to imagine.
They've bent a blade, busted a wing, tore a flap off, and knocked the ear crooked.

Jeff, never deliberatly cheated anyone. Could have, never did. We have soooo many newbies every year it's hard to keep up with them.

Bondo, can't say I've ever seen a high post count person threadjack for the sole purpose of a personal attack like that before. I'm VERY far from new at this game. What's wrong with Alabama anyhow? :p

Thanks for the encouragement. :D

Nothing At All,......

I Think it's about being a Qualified Merc/ Volvo Marine Technician,+ Working Exactly,"By The Book",.......
Rather than a Qualified Mechanic,+ Knowing Which corners Can be Cut.......
Or,.. Maybe it's from living in Alaska,..........
Don't Know...........I Do Know,... I sit Pretty Low in His Book........

We've had More than 1 Go-around,...... He's gotten Pi$$ed before,+ Left,..... Only to return.....
He Is,..and Does have an awful Lot of Great information,......
I Truly Appreciate All that he provides to the forum,........ He just has "Bad Days" alittle more often than some of Us.......

1 thing that'll Really set him off is,......
Call a certain Mass-produced, Entry-level, boat,.. That's Usually Known to be Usually Rotted Out, due to "Cost-Saving Measures",....
And,..The Fact that they're Entry-Level boats, bought by entry-level Buyers, Who DON'T Usually take very good care of them.........

A Bilgeliner,..... rather than it's Real Name..... :D

All I can tell ya is,......
Brush it Off,+ Keep Typing Away........

Re: Mispronouned boat parts

Kind of a reverse example: I started my 29 year engine career in parts and had to learn a few things . . . I was sure the old guys were teasing me the first time they asked for Zinc Anodes. I wasn't gonna get suckered, so I brushed it off and said "no, really, what do you want?" . . . Ooops

This is slightly off topic, but my alltime favorite. I was trying to get this big Hawaiian dude to explain what he was really after and he said in a very thick, pidgin English accent, "my boy, he say, 'Daddy, truck no go up hill'". If I ever use that line, it simply means low power . . . :D

When I used to work at the car auto parts store, we had people ask for "head" gaskets. So you would pull it and then they would say, "no man, the ones on top." They meant valve cover gaskets.

Carbonator and silinoid are the two most common ones.
:D

ken

Slightly playing the race game here but its too true not to mention. I worked parts for several years. Every black guy that came in that had a Buick pronounced it "Burik" It took me a long time to figure that one out. Another common thing is the lock cylinder is often referred to as the ignition switch. People don't realize there is a difference.

That would be an Electra 225 with a 7.5 liter or 455.

Gees!! I thought I was the only one to hear that phrase. Years ago, a fella walked into the repair shop where I hung out and asked the same thing. The owner sold him a 12oz can of 'freezone'. The guy walked back out to the gas pumps...stood there for a few minutes...and then walked back.

The owner asked him if there was a problem. The guy says " Nope, no problem...but could you lend me a can opener???" (true story!!)
