Is it possible to find out the make, model and year of a boat that has no HIN #'s? I do have the registration #. Thanks in advance for any help. T.

Re: missing HIN #'s

Florida registrations have the hull # on the registration. if it is missing from the boat, david@custommarinelabels.com will make you one that stick one the stearn $5.00. he aslos makes capacity stickers. has done a great job for me several times.

Re: missing HIN #'s

Thanks I appreciate the info. The boat that I'm looking at isn't "Hot" but the person doing the previous repairs obviously painted over the numbers. I'm just trying to see if it's worth the trouble of restoring it. The Hull is in pretty good shape , but the cap is garbage. Just want to find out what I'm going to be working on...... Thanks again, T.

Re: missing HIN #'s

The official I talked to yesterday said all boats made after, what? 1972 I think, have the HIN etched INTO the hull. Back of the boat, right side near the top. It's at the bottom of the hull cap on my boat. He said if it's a commercial boat and it's gone, it's an illegal boat and they won't register it.

Might check there.

If you have a pic, maybe someone here might be able to identify it.

Re: missing HIN #'s

I'll try to post some photos of the boat. This is the deal. I want a trailer that is in the back of this guys shop. The only thing is that I have to take the boat as well. I want to find out what make, model, year,etc... it is. I've restored many "free" boats before and made them stronger and cosmetically imaculate. I'm just not convinced that I want another project right now. If the resale is Ok then I might take it on.....but, The trailer is maybe a '89ish Float On, aluminum I beam frame, great shape, no pitting whatsoever, but needs springs and tires. I just don't know if I really neeeed... another boat? My wife doesn't think I do.

Solarex, I'm trying to find out the same info. I don't have the title yet but I do have the Fl registration numbers. Let me know if you find out anything.

Re: missing HIN #'s

after carefully examined the boat, i found the HIN on my boat, it's imprinted into the corner of the transom. look like it's formed/stamped into the fiberglass structure during the molding of the hull from the manufacture.

Re: missing HIN #'s

the tax collectors office, in your county, has a link to all fla registration numbers, and can trace previous owners. with the registration # you can find out everything, if you get a cooperative clerk.

Re: missing HIN #'s

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm even more curious to find out the story on this boat. Scott Porta, in Edgewater, supposedly foamed the stringers and put a new transom in it about 8 years ago. I'm going to find out though.
