My late Father had purchased a Insurance claimed 20' Lund Alaskan in the late 90's that the transom and rear portion of port side had severe damage to and therfor removed the plate from the rear aluminum covering to remove transom . I have looked high and low for missing plate, but I wondered if there is anywhere else on the hull the factory might have Numbers to use as reference as I want to finish hull and get it registered to then I will receive the running numbers I require.. I think the hull is a mid to late 80's.. Thank you

Hello limbwalker and welcome to Iboats..

One thing you might try is get the serial # off the motor ( hopefully its OEM ) .. call up Lund and see if they still have the serial/boat HIN on file.

IF the motor is not origional .. try Anything you can find on the boat that is..get that serial # and ask Lund with those numbers.

There might be other "legal" options that I dont know about. ( aside from documenting the vessle ).

Ayuh,... Do you have the hin# on any of Dad's paperwork for this boat,..??
If so,...
Just restamp it into the hull yourself....

He didn't but it with a motor.. It was the hull only...

If He had paperwork with it, good luck me trying to find it.

I. Have looked everywhere I though to look on and inside the hull for any other markings and found nothing.

Well, I had the center plywood section out to reveal the built in fuel cell as I needed to drain and clean tank as the ol girl has been sitting for so long but I still can't find anything,, I've do doing more research and it all seems to be top secret information, but apparently most boat manufactures do put a secondary number on the hulls but sadly noone wants to share it's location for logical reasons which certainly isn't the case here..not sure what to do..

Is there anything on the boat that is original with a serial # ?

If so see if lund has a cross from the ser. # to the Hin #.

I think the only thing that might be original would be the vinyl flooring as it's the hull only he got..

One thing I wanted to share is something that happened to me last fall as I had my ol completely restored65' Starcraft Jupiter with an 05 Honda 50 into one of the local marinas. I was chatting with their long time and well respected mechanic about cavitation plate heights, props etc etc and he asked me if I'd ever had a leading edge sharpened on any of my props which I replied "no" ....he mentioned all the guys down on the lake that run the offshore boats have him work their props because it works for them.....before I knew it he had the Michigan SS fan off and back to his hobby belt sander and as I watched him methodically rotate each blade to sharpened the leading edge on the one side of each blade only...after reinstalling it, he sent me on my way, he asked me to let him know how it worked for me...once I launched it and got out onto the bay, I thought about how before that prop would ball weeds up so bad I'd have to lterally cut them off the hub to get it cleaned off...something as simple as doing what he did has eliminated that now as I intentionally was messing around in the weed bed trying to get it to plug up which it did not do..I called him to thank him...I actaully think because it enters the water easier than I might have picked up a slight bit of top end but which isn't a big deal to me but I was so impressed I will never install any prop on any boat without first putting an edge on each blade first....just need to figure out a way to check for balance though...my 2 cents :) Thank you..
